HOUSTON, July 10, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE: WLK) today announced that it has named Andrew Kenner, 43, as Vice President, Manufacturing for its chemical operations.

Mr. Kenner will be responsible for all manufacturing, engineering and project management activities for the company's chemical operations and will be a member of the senior executive team reporting to Mr. Albert Chao, President and CEO. Westlake's chemical operations are located at sites in Lake Charles, LA; Longview, TX; Calvert City, KY and Geismar, LA. This company also has a joint venture operation in Suzhou, China, which includes a PVC resin operation. Mr. Kenner will provide manufacturing oversight for all of these operations.

Mr. Kenner has over 20 years of engineering, operations and manufacturing leadership experience and has most recently been serving Valero Energy Corporation as Vice President and General Manager of their Delaware City Refinery and previously led similar operations in Houston and Texas City, TX.

Mr. Kenner holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A & M University and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
